Payment Terms

NSS Media offers flexibility and choices when it comes to sending payments for items you have purchased from us. Although immediate payment is appreciated, we will work with you to find the most suitable method for your needs.

When is payment due?

When an item is purchased through Ebay, payment arrangements must be made within 3 days of the auction end date. We are very flexible when it comes to payment methods, however we reserve the right to cancel the transaction if payment arrangements are not made within this time frame. Electronic Payments made through Paypal Certapay should be completed within 5 days of the auction end date, and Mailed payments such as Money Orders and Personal Cheques should be receive within 2 weeks of the auction end date unless other arrangements have been made. If payment is not received, the item will be relisted, or offered to another buyer, and a non-paying bidder complaint will be filed against you. It's very important to keep the channels of communication open so that we are aware of your current situation, and even if you don't plan on following through with payment, we still need to know in order to try and work things out. There is a simple rule on Ebay which goes like this.. if you're not seriously committed to buying an item, do not bid, and do not use the buy it now option. It costs us time and money to list and sell an item and we ask our buyers to please respect the rules of Ebay and we urge you to communicate with us - it helps a great deal.

What payment methods are accepted?

1. Paypal/Bidpay - This method is fast and convenient as it allows instant payments and transfers. The advantage is a faster turnaround time for shipping your item. There is no charge for sending a payment to us, however Paypal does charge approximately %3 of the transaction amount for receiving payments. Paypal also takes a small percentage of the conversion fee when converting to and from different currencies. NSS Media assumes these costs as part of the transaction and in no event shall these fees be passed on to the customer. Another advantage of using Paypal is the Buyer Protection program. Paypal continues to be the most commonly used secure payment method for Ebay customers due to convenience and reliability. Bidpay works much the same way as Paypal. Check out http://www.paypal.com and http://www.bidpay.com for more information.

2. Certapay - If you are a Canadian resident and you have a bank account with one of the major 5 banks (Scotia, TD Canada Trust, CIBC, Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal), you can easily send money straight from your bank account to anyone with an email address who also lives in Canada and has a similar account. There is a small fee for sending an e-mail money transfer, however this is much less than what Paypal charges and it is not percentage based. The fee is minimal. Certapay is a convenient and cost-effective method of payment for Canadian customers only. Check out http://www.certapay.com/ for more information.

3. Personal Cheques - We gladly accept personal cheques, but they take much longer to process than electronic payment methods. Personal cheques can be subjected to bank holds of up to 2 weeks! Please be advised that items are not shipped out until the cheque has been received, processed and cleared. If you are not able to use an electronic payment method, but wish to avoid the extra processing delay, we advise sending a Money Order instead as they are not subject to bank holds.

4. Money Orders - This is our preferred method of payment because of quick processing times, items can be shipped quickly, and there are no fees for cashing a Money Order. Money Orders usually only cost a few dollars, so it's an affordable method of payment for those who don't use Paypal. We prefer bank-drafted money orders, however we also accept USPS (United States Postal Service) Postal Money Orders. Please be aware that there are two types of Postal Money Orders, one for use within the USA (Green in colour), and one for use Internationally (Pink in colour). We ONLY accept the Pink International Postal Money Orders because they are negotiable in Canada whereas the green ones are not. If you have sent us a Green Postal Money Order in error, it will be returned to you, another form of payment will be requested, and there is a risk that the item may no longer be available due to the length of time passed.

What is the deal with Taxes?

We are required by law to charge GST to our Canadian customers, GST and PST to our Ontario customers, and to remit these taxes to the Federal Government and the Provincial Retail Sales Tax office. If you are a resident of Canada and you have purchased a product or service from NSS Media (regardless of currency), you are required to submit %6 GST (Goods & Services Tax) of the entire sale price plus shipping. Ontario residents who have purchased a product or computer related service (regardless of currency) are required to submit %6 GST and %8 PST (Provincial Sales Tax). Canadian customers living outside of Ontario who have purchased a product are not required to pay provincial sales tax. GST is not charged for event tickets because it is included in the purchase price. There are no exceptions to avoiding paying tax, however in some cases we may offer a promotion or incentive whereby we pay the taxes on your behalf. This is the exception however, and not the rule - taxes apply if you live in Canada (see terms and conditions for more information).
